On Sunday Jodie had to go to defensive Driving class due to a speeding ticket so Moxie and I went down to Tempe to visit Ikea and have breakfast and pick up a table for my office.
Monday I took off because I worked too many hours last week so I went with Jodie to The little Gym to watch Moxie. She seems too old for her class. She elps them clean up the bells, is usually the first one to try out the activities and Monday she was taught a roll with a spotter and immediatly did it again perfectly on her own. Her favorite part is getting the stamps after class. She came home Monday night with stamps EVERYWHERE.
She has the Alphabet song down perfectly and loves singing it and is big on counting these days. Is up to 19. I taught her how to stand on her hands and she does it on the couch with the cushions at her back and has really good balance.
The other thing of note is she now finds things ‘yucky’ (Thanks Dragon Tales) and ‘scary’ (Not sure where she got that one). Jodie and her walked to the Mail box and Jodie asked her if she wanted to walk to a neighbors house who has halloween blowups in their yard and she said no because it was ‘scary’. I am concerned she won’t be making it to the Haunted Mansion or Pirates of the Caribbean this year. We will have to wait and see. When she did it at 19 months she did great, doubt we will have the same luck this time.
On the down side she is needing less sleep these days. been going to sleep at 9 and getting up at 7. I miss the 12 hour nights. Not sure what our Christmas Vacation will bring sleep wise.
We hit the 90 day mark to make Advanced Dining Reservations this week for Disney so I have most of my planning complete for our vacation. We are staying at the Wilderness lodge and have dinner reservations at the Hoop De Doo review at Ft. Wilderness, Le Cellier at Epcot, Cape May at the Beach Club and Chefs De France in Epcot. We are also planning on going to the Triple D ranch and take Moxie on a Pony Ride and do the camp fire. With as many days as we are going to be there we are trying to do some of the things I have either never done or haven’t done since I was younger.
So we are back in the grind of things in the ole homestead. Moxie can count to 12 and sings the alphabet song, although doesn’t always get all the letters in the right order, but Jodie only gets it right part of the time too, jk.
She is still swimming on Thursday Nights and had added The Little Gym Gymnastics on Monday Nights.
Jodie and I started up on Monday with our diets and P90X as we have 99 days till Florida and need to be in swimsuit shape by then.
The Neighbor appears to be in Jail indefinitely till he gets a trial which apparently will be a while.
Still can’t sleep well with just too much on my mind but all is good and working on too many projects at once.
Moxie saw me with an Iron the other day and said what’s that, probably the first time she has ever seen an Iron. I was working on my current quilt. I used all my dad’s old ties. It is the coolest quilt i have ever seen. I’ll post pics once I complete it. Goes well next to my first quilt which was made up of all my dress shirts.
That is all for now. I’ll try to post pictures soon. Moxie appears to be getting taller quickly.
We received an email today from the rescue that took Ellie. She said she normally won’t give updates but saw how hard it was to give up our dear sweet Ellie so she wanted us to know.
Ellie was adopted and went to her new ‘forever’ home last weekend. She went to a retired gentlemen who recently lost his Shih Tzu. His daughter has two shih tzu’s for Ellie to play with and she is following him everywhere he goes and is settling in fine.
Which, as much as it breaks my heart, it makes me content.
Ellie we miss you.
Amuse Bouche in Surprise has to have the absolutely best breakfast in the entire valley. It is actually brunch and only served on Sundays from 9-1.
It is a small menu but has all I ever need. Eggs Benedict and Beignets, the problem is I don’t know if I will ever try anything else.
The Beignets are better than New Orleans Cafe Du Monde. They are light and dusted with just the right amount of powdered sugar.

And the Benedict is served with the lightest Holandaise with just a hint of Lemon, and a side of home potatoes that complement it perfectly.
Jodie always gets the Yogurt parfait that is also always reliable.
Moxie enjoys the Bacon and an English Muffin.
The only downside is the price but it is worth every penny.
We had a lot going on with the Neighbors and I wanted to get most of it behind us before I updated about them.
The father was charged with Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon which has a $10,000 bond and if convicted a sentence of 5-10 years in prison. He has been in Jail since it occurred on August 2nd and his next hearing is not until October 1st and there is no way he can raise bond.
So he left the family without money and without a plan. Their phones had already been disconnected so the Mom spent the days afterwards at our house contacting shelters trying to figure out what to do. Lucky her parents stepped up and provided for them. Tuesday night they called and said they found flights for them on Wednesday. We gave them a couple of extra bags that we had laying around they packed up what they could carry on a flight and I took them to the airport on Wednesday to fly to her parents.
With them leaving so abruptly there wasn’t much time for them to do much, so they left the house key with us because we had to handle their animals (Dog and 2 Cats). Which we were able to get to a local animal shelter. You can’t even fathom how dirty they lived. Granted I didn’t go in till after they were gone and Jodie said it actually was worse now than when they lived there however it was just crazy to think anyone could live like that.
As of last Friday the house has been seized by the landlord.
Here are a couple of photos of the garage and one of the bedrooms.

Woke up Sunday morning with 2 Quail out on the ground under the feeders. Didn’t get a picture. I’ll try to catch it next time.
So he finally did it. Our neighbor went crazy and went after his daughter with a knife. Luckly his wife called the cops and they came in force stopping him with Pepper Spray. If only they would have had tazers…
We woke up from our Sunday Afternoon nap and found 5 cruisers, an ambulance and fire truck out front, luckily they were there for the neighbors and not for my manhole cover.
Jodie got the scoop this morning from his crazy wife. Walking her dog, with new bikes for the family, a new watch and new shoes complaining that she didn’t have any money and wasn’t sure what she was going to do. You have to feel a little sorry but when you keep welcoming back a guy who beats your kids, it gives a little perspective.
Regardless they took him away in cuffs and a red face from the pepper spray. Couldn’t have happened to a better person(and I use that term loosely).
