DIY Parallettes
I found that when we started working out at Crossfit Litchfield Park that quite often we used a set of parallettes. From marking distance, to holding up a barbell, to pushups, or even slallom jumps we found that they were used all the time and from reading the crossfit bullitin board are very easy to build on your own. I downloaded the instructions from Crossfit.com and built these. We choose to use 1 1/4″ inch PVC instead of 1 1/2″ just because it felt better. Kirez’s are 1 1/2″ and work just fine as well, it’s a personal preference.
As far as the cost it was just the raw materials:
1 – 10′ PVC 1 1/4″ pipe $4.69
8 – PVC End Caps at .67 each $5.36
4 – PVC Tees at $1.23 each $4.92
4 – PVC Elbows at .83 each $3.32
1 Can of PVC Glue $2.32
I had the saw, so the end price of the project was $20.61
Next up I want to build a lifting platform and plyo boxes.
Here is a link to Crossfit Journal article I used to build the parallettes from.
