Tie Quilt

I finally finished my Tie Quilt. It was extremely difficult with the way ties are cut. I’m happy with it but always critical of my work. Regardless it is very comfy, I found this great charcoal gray soft cotton fabric for the back side of it. I also was a little long on one end so I folded it under and ran binding across the top. Hope you like it.

Picture Project

Last September when we went to Disneyland I came up with an idea. Spell Moxie with Signs. So I finally found the perfect frame for the project.

Chalk Board in our Kitchen

I subscribe to Readymade magazine and a couple months back they had a project where a guy created a wine rack between two pieces of fiber board. We don’t drink so we didn’t need the wine rack but I need a place to put my stuff and to charge my phone and camera battery.

So I created a Chalk Board with a charging station in the middle. I combined my last project the LED light stick so it glows green at night and is a night light in the kitchen. We use it primarely for the Menu for the week but put other notes on it as well. I used a metallic primer on the fiberboard prior to painting the Chalk board paint on as I was hoping to use it for Moxie’s magnets as well however the Chalk Board paint must have been too thick because it will not hold a magnet.

Don’t mind the Duct Tape, I didn’t have the mounting hardware for the LED light stick so I improvised. I since have replace the tape with mounting hardware so it looks a little more professional.

Back when I Graduated from College (GO Huskies) my wonderful aunt bought me the second best gift in the entire world, a guitar. (best gift was my education from mom and dad) My guitar is a beautiful Sigma 6 string acustic that I adore but am really unable to play anything other than a couple licks here and there, and nothing that anyone would hear and know what it was.

So, here i am 14 years later with my guitar and a little girl and a wife and I want to be able to play something for them. Like Harry Chapin sang, ‘I wanna learn a love song’. So that is just what I’m going to do.

Tonight is my first lesson. The rec center in our community is giving guitar lessons and I signed up. its only 7 lessons but I’m hoping i can learn something and put something together to play for my girls.

I’ll let you know how it goes. And Sha Sha, thanks again for the wonderful gift!!

P.S. you can thank my sister for the nick name, she couldn’s say aunt sharon, and now it just sounds wrong when I try to. :)

LED Light Stick-Latest Project

I finished my latest project. I found this great site called Instructables.com and they have all kinds of little DIY projects. I have always loved lights and working with electricity so this was right up my alley. When I have looked for wall washers online before they are generally too expensive and not exactly what I want or need but this project was inexpensive and not that difficult.

Its using LED’s and a Metal Wire cover to create a light stick. Currently I have it behind our headboard which makes it glow but I’m going to make one to go above our cabinets in the kitchen.

The instructions are here Instructables.

The entire project didn’t cost more than $30 and i bought the leds in bulk so I have enough to make more.
