Couldn’t sleep with a 4 year old waking up 3 times in the night and a wife with a bad cough so I went out a little early this morning for my run. It was a beautiful morning after an evening shower. After the run I had a physical and my blood pressure was great 124/80 compared to last time 150/100, and I weighted in at 226 which means I’m down 56.5 lbs since January 1, and a pound off of my 225 goal for our Hawaiian Vacation which begins Friday.

Moxie’s first day of PreSchool

Yesterday was Moxie’s first day of 3 day a week Preschool. I told her no boys but she defied me and has a new friend named Jack. She has Ms. Wilson again this year which we are thrilled with and she seemed to enjoy her first day.

One of the negatives of the Nike Plus GPS app on the IPhone is if it can’t get a good GPS signal it uses some technology that estimates speed and distance and it usually is a little off which can throw you. This morning it wasn’t picking up the signal real well so it estimated and the estimates made me feel like i was sprinting the whole way. As you can tell from the map below it was WAY off. Regardless I had a good run and am ready for the week. Four days until i get to run in the shadow of Diamond Head.

Completed another 5k+ or 3.30 Miles this morning. Didn’t feel good at first but I worked into it, and didn’t walk once. It was also the second run with new shoes which I’m still working in. I wore out my Brooks and this time Jodie bought me Mizunos which I love.

I took the plunge. Yesterday I signed up for my first Half Marathon. On January 7, 2012 I will be running the Walt Disney World Half Marathon.

So now my challenge is how to train. There are tons of different training plans out there so I’m going to be going through them to try to figure out the best one for me. Most are about 12 weeks which means I will need to start the training program the week of October 17th. Up until that point I’m going to run 5 kilometers 3 to 4 days a week and track my progress here.

As far as my history goes, I started running January 2nd of this year. I have just over 250 miles so far and only did it to loose weight but found I enjoy it. I ran my first 5K in June and finished in just under 30 minutes. My longest run to date is 7 miles, which I have now done twice.
